Live Greek Music

One of the biggest highlights at the festival is the LIVE MUSIC! This year we will have feature bands that will help bring the feeling of Greece into our hearts. What makes greek music so unique and festive is the sound of the bouzouki. There is no other instrument like it. When you combine it with the other instruments in the band, you can't help but tap your feet and sing along!

POSEIDON
POSEIDON is one of the top Greek musical groups in North America. This critically acclaimed band, based in Ottawa, Canada, consists of five members: Chris Pezoulas (lead singer, clarinet, flute & saxophone), Nick Pantieras (keyboards, bass), Tony Pantieras (bouzouki, baglama, Tzoura), Nick Nikolakakos (guitar) and George Missios (drums).
They play both contemporary and traditional Greek music from a wide variety of popular Greek singers, and most recently has focused its attention on composing and recording original music. They have performed at hundreds of dances, festivals, televisions shows and concerts from coast to coast in Canada, and in parts of the United States, such as West Palm Beach (Florida), San Francisco, New York City and New Orleans.
The band has recorded three albums; "Laikes Stigmes" (1992) and "OPA!" (1994, re-released 1998)" , and “TORA” (2001) have enjoyed tremendous success.

Yiannis Kapoulas
We welcome back to GreekFest, “Yiannis Kapoulas”. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, he moved to Europe in 1989 to launch his music career where he spent 14 years recording, producing and performing with many of the top artists in some of the most prestigious concert halls and venues. His music incorporates sounds and instruments from all over the world. Raised in the multicultural Greater Toronto Area and performing extensively in Europe, Yiannis was influenced early on by the beauty and richness of world cultures.

Ta Paidia Tis Pareas
George Gritziotis and "Ta Paidia Tis Pareas" are local Artists who would get together on weekends just for the pleasure of hearing and playing greek music. This pastime slowly has evolved into playing weekends in Montreal, small weddings, and they have had the pleasure of playing in prestigious concert halls such as the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. With the lead singers Kleo Hapitas and Georgia Golfinopoulou they can’t help but grab your attention with their charisma and passion for greek music.

Music has always been a part of George's life, but in his late twenties he fell in love with the Greek Bouzouki. Since then he has worked tirelessly to improve his skills and technique. He has been fortunate to train with some of the best bouzouki players around the world such as Xristos Psaros, Nikos Tatasopoulos, Vaggelis Triggas and the late Gianni Palailogou. You can't help but hear the passion in his music when he plays the bouzouki.

REVMA
This six piece Greek band originating from Montreal, Quebec, comprised of musicians living in Montreal, brings together the talents of Achilles Pitsios (guitar, bass, touberleki) a well known musician , producer and performer has made his mark in the city. Bobby Terzakis (bouzouki) known for his exceptional sound and improvisational skills. Costa Koutsimanis (Keyboards and Violin) doesn't hesitate to meld his keyboard and violin sounds with a Greek flavor. George Giocas (Drums and Percussion) bringing Greek style drumming to the city, Andreas Karabatsos (Vocals) with his performances in Greece and North America brings a Greek voice to the local scene. Helen Filandrianos (Vocals) with a background in journalism and acting, as well as her Greek vocal talents.

The band REVMA ties everything together with their special blend of Greek talents to bring new and exciting music to the Greek music scene. The Montreal based group REVMA operates as a collective of traditional and Modern Greek music. After earning a reputation in the local scene, the band gained success in its popularity in and around the city performing on numerous events. The band provides a wide variety of Greek music that will keep you dancing and entertained throughout their performances.
